Susan Fox’s Basic Brain Dialog

Online Seminar Notes

Main points to remember:

1-The human brain contains the equivalent of 4 living computer software programs.  Remember, hypnotists can suggest ideas so a client can change his or her viewpoint or interpretation about a situation.  WE ONLY WORK IN PEOPLE’S PERCEPTIONS.

2-From birth, each person’s brain is designed using a proprietary brain design.  your unique, personalized, proprietary brain design (like an unduplicatable PDF file) instructs you, for the most part, to prefer thinking in a particular way.  Using your unique brain design, you naturally prefer to interpret your world by thinking in your particular brain quadrant order.

Your made-to-order brain design contains built in preferences for thinking thoughts and interpreting your ideas in a specific pattern.  Understand that we ALL think according to specific preferences and proprietary brain design.

This means each of us prefers certain likes and dislikes; we each demonstrate specific talents we can effortlessly use as we do specific tasks during life.  That’s why YOU may like dancing, but your sibling walks with two left feet when doing dancing.  Or, that’s why some people excel doing writing while others can barely spell.   Proprietary means only YOU come into this world with the customized brain blueprint found in your brain.  No one else, including a multiple birth sibling, prefers exactly the same preferences as you do.

For example…

In life, suppose you desire to ride a horse.  You LOVE everything about horses but when you talk about horses to one person, THAT person feels BORED about horses.  At work, suppose you excel at human resources jobs but another person prefers researching topics in virtual research library isolation.  The person who excels at human resources would feel very unfulfilled and lonely doing isolating research.  But the natural researcher THRIVES when left alone to research.

Understanding this human brain phenomenon, people born preferring to think mainly from the left brain can feel challenged interacting with people who prefer thinking from the right brain.  It’s like oil and water – the two different brain hemispheres THINK differently by design!

AND, this is even MORE interesting, each word actually has an affinity for a specific quadrant.  It's like your phone number.  Nowadays, we no longer have party lines (like we did when I was a kid...).  We each have individual proprietary phone numbers that only ring at a specific address.  WORDS are proprietary to each brain quadrant.  So, that's why when you say straight logical words the lower left activates and responds or reacts.  Feeling words activate the lower right.  Words based in imagination cause the upper right brain reacts and responds.  Numbers and symbols activate the upper left.

So, when you are looking to spot a liar, looking to help people in addictions, when you listen to the words they use to express their ideas, you know HOW they are invisibly creating their addictive patterns.  Especially if you do a Brain Story (that's a survey tool I created and use with clients who desire to get to their core issues, want to know their real life purpose and want to discover their proprietary brain design), that tool REALLY reveals A LOT of hidden information about the client, you know, stuff they are CRAVING to know about themselves so they can access it and edit it to their liking or transform it into a useful perception.

So, suppose your female client tells you she’s unable to talk with her domineering husband.  When she tells you he’s domineering, that WORD clues you in to the fact that he’s processing predominantly from the lower left brain.  Due to the differences between the two brain hemispheres, the female CAN learn how to speak the language of her husband to change her PERCEPTION of the situation.

3- Lower Left Brain Quadrant

A person preferring to think from the lower left quadrant, quickly processes information in the brain.  This person speaks very directly, and in short, purposeful sentences.  He or she wants to feel in control, likes to plan things out and follow that plan and relaxes when people GET TO THE POINT QUICKLY.  So, during communication, do so EFFICIENTLY because this person likes people who efficiently and quickly complete a task.

Lower Right Brain Quadrant

A person preferring to think from the lower right quadrant, s-l-o-w-l-y processes information in the brain.  He or she likes taking time to get to know you and likes knowing personal details about you.  This person wants to cooperate, to get along with and please people.  So, when connecting with this person, use his or her first name in conversations.  Say feeling things because this person is all about relationships and feeling feelings.

Upper Right Brain Quadrant

A person preferring to think from the upper right quadrant, semi-quickly enthusiastically processes information in the brain.  This person wants to express creativity and do things in an exciting, animated, fun way.  He or she may exaggerate for drama or effect.  This person LOVES to feel appreciated and be the center of attention.  When connecting, express appreciation for the time he or she is taking from their schedule for you.

You want to connect with this person’s enthusiasm for being in on a good thing.  This person will respond to feeling special and important.  This person is all about “getting credit” even when he or she DIDN’T DO what he or she INSISTS he did to “be (and feel) important.”  This person LOVES to feel important.  Ignoring this person will be a signal to him or her that you think he or she and the ideas shared by this person ARE INSIGNIFICANT.

Upper Left Brain Quadrant

A person preferring to think from the upper left quadrant, semi-slowly and factually processes information in the brain.  This person wants to do things right the first time and is greatly concerned with accuracy.  This person likes to hear ALL the details.  A SLOW and careful decision-maker, you may interpret the intense attention to detail as the person acting indecisive. Be prepared to present your details accurately.  Plan to spend time hearing and answering LOTS of questions.  This person will make a choice based upon a process of elimination.

You may hear this elimination process as complaining.  He or she will consider the process comparison shopping.  So, act prepared to accurately and optimistically answer questions about your discussion topic. Keeping your word will be a key issue to this individual.

So, during client communication, listen to the words, attitudes and interactive styles used.  By the specific word, term or phrase preferences you can understand from which brainview your client sees a situation.  The view will be one of the basic 4 or a blend of more than 4.  Develop rapport speaking a client’s language and improve your favorable responses.

Your Storytelling Brain

The brain is like 4 storytellers.  Our clients use their 4 unique brain storytellers to create ONE main story version of their issues. You can master decoding HOW clients use their 4 thoughtware programs to interpret their issues.  This decoding occurs when you intentionally understand the unique thinking style characteristics found within each brain quadrant’s thoughtware program. For clearer understanding of the 4 brain quadrants and how we think from those 4 unique basic views, the following describes each quadrant as if it is an indivudal person.

Lower Left Personified Brain - Leona

Think of Leona Helmsly at her meanest.  She got that name because she acted (at her worst) like a vindictive, cold, uncaring BULLY.  That's an accurate description of what's happening during EXTREME competitive thought patterns in the lower left.  So, think of an uncaring bully when you think COMPETITIVE LEONA.

However, the lower left ALSO can act CREATIVE.  So, we also have CREATIVE LEONA.  This is the equivalent of an inspirational, selfless leader.  The DNA structure in the lower left is all about completing a task.  You can either DICTATE and FORCE people to submit to your demands, OR you can motivate and inspire them to get them to work together to complete a task.  The dictator is competitive Leona.  The inspirational leader is creative Leona.

Lower Right Personified Brain - Janie

So, then we have the creative Janie and the competitive Janie.  Janie (the lower right) is all about relationships and feeling feelings.  Creative Janie is a loving caretaker, relationship expert, a great listener, compassionate person with somewhat realistic boundaries.  Competitive Janie has unrealistic boundaries, overwhelms herself without fulfilling her basic needs first, says yes without following through to say a few of her behaviors.

Upper Right Personified Brain - Kyle

Then we have creative Kyle, upper right brain and competitive Kyle.  This is the creative part of the brain, the part where we imagine, our visual part.  Creative Kyle is charming and witty and has a great sense of humor as he enthusiastically embraces life.  He's the life of the party and beloved.  Competitive Kyle acts out, acts childish and will do virtually ANYTHING to get attention.  He confuses attention with appreciation because he's looking to feel validated externally instead of having a high self esteem.  Poor old competitive Kyle is pretty much created by co-dependent and/or often alcoholic parents.

Upper Left Personified Brain - Felix

Finally, we have competitive and creative Felix.  Think of Felix Unger in the Odd Couple mixed with Ebenezer Scrooge.  From this quadrant we act greedy, hoarding thoughts or money or whatever.  We stay focused on the DETAILS of a situation.  This also means Felix is EASILY distracted.  We are concerned with what's fair but we won't share.  That's competitive Felix.  However, creative Felix finds the flaws in a plan so you can avoid making mistakes and choose what accurately works during a situation.

So we have these 4 thoughtware programs in the brain but see them as 4 different people with their competitive and creative behaviors.  Yes, each quadrant thinks in both ways.  That’s why we see so many different versions of a situation from a different perspective.
